We will meet at Deerpark carpark at Ballinteskin near Enniskerry Wicklow. This is a lovely gentle hike, ideal for those starting out and want something to give a little challenge with epic views and stunning forest walks . All or mostly on good fire trails and walking trails.
Our hike starts on a lovely gentle slope upwards, here we will walk through some old mixed forests We get glimpses of the Powerscourt waterfall way over and below us through gaps in the trees We will cross a stream and then we pop out into the open ground under Djouce ( we won’t venture up here today). We arrive at our high point at 410m and here we will have more amazing views of the Wicklow mountains and the Glensoulan valley.
Now we are walking on the famous Wicklow way, as we head South across the footbridge over the Dargle river, which flows on over to form the Powerscourt waterfall. We continue along the trail, all the while looking over the edge into powerscourt valley . Finally we leave the path and follow a secret trail down and back across the lower Powerscourt valley. We continue gently up again, on some magical trails through old forests and eventually back to the car.
